Dr Johann Coetzee
Dr Johann Coetzee is a gynaecologist by profession. He obtained his masters degree in medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) cum laude from the University of Pretoria in 1988, and was elected a fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa in the same year. He became interested in Urogynaecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) in 2003, and received training in the subspecialty in the United Kingdom and France.

Dr Coetzee has presented workshops and talks on URPS topics at international and national medical conferences, and has published related articles in several journals. He received a special award in 2003 from the Minister of Health of South Africa for excellence in healthcare and the promotion of women’s health. [read more...]
International and national affiliations
Dr Johann Coetzee has served as the representative for Africa on the Board of Executives of the International Urogynecological Association (www.iuga.org), and as a member of the FIGO Working Group on Pelvic Floor Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He maintains close working relationships with colleagues in Europe, America and Australia (www.urogynaecology.com.au), and has been a member of the executive council of the South African Urogynaecology Association since 2005 (www.sa-urogyne.org)

Location
The location of this private academic practice is at the Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital, in Krugersdorp, on the West Rand of Johannesburg. The practice is part of a multi-disciplinary group, which includes colo-rectal surgery and physiotherapy practices, and is supported by dietetic and psychology practices.
